Cohen & Company has named Kristen deMoulpied, CPA, MBA, MST, as the new partner in charge of tax for the firm, effective January 1, 2023.
A partner with 20 years of experience in industry and global firms, deMoulpied will focus on evolving the firm’s approach and service offerings within the tax department.
“As a best practice, we regularly analyze our business to proactively address opportunities and challenges, and ensure we are well positioned for both continued growth and the expectations of the marketplace,” says Chris Bellamy, Cohen & Company CEO. “Kristen is a great fit for this role. She is a natural leader, easily connects with our people and clients, and is ready to take the next step in driving the strategic direction of the firm’s largest service line. I am excited to have Kristen as a member of the executive leadership team.”
deMoulpied replaces Mike McGivney, who led the tax team through a period of significant growth in both employees and capabilities over his five-year tenure, as well as the technical challenges of recent tax reform and pandemic-related disruptions. McGivney will continue to serve in a leadership role for the tax department, with a focus on technology and process-related initiatives that drive operational excellence and further enhance the client experience. Both deMoulpied and McGivney will continue to directly serve clients.
deMoulpied resides in the firm’s Cleveland office and joined Cohen & Company in 2020 as a tax partner specializing in transaction tax for a variety of industries, including private equity and manufacturing. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Ohio Society of CPAs and is a speaker at various local and national conferences. She received a Master of Taxation from University of Illinois, an MBA in international business from University of Dayton and a BSBA in finance from The Ohio State University.
