Jay’s “can-do” attitude, enthusiasm, focus and conversational style enable him to engage with and clearly explain tough tax issues to clients — which can be just as important as understanding the technical concepts themselves. But Jay takes client service to another level, remaining passionate about building entire teams that result in exceptional client service.
Jay specializes in tax work for regulated investment companies (RICs), hedge funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), master limited partnership (MLP) funds, private equity funds, fund-of-funds and other private investment funds. He leads client service teams focused on a wide range of tax matters, including federal, state and international taxation of financial instruments, accounting methods and product structures. Jay joined the Firm in 2016, after spending 13 years in the tax department of a Big 4 firm. His experience spans a wide range of tax-related investment management disciplines and includes international experience managing large and diverse project teams.
Jay lives in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, with his wife and their three children. While Jay is more than happy living in the Midwest, his true passion lies in seeing the world. He has traveled to more than 20 countries, has been to his favorite city (Bangkok, Thailand) 14 times and lived in India for two years.
